The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Amber: I try to keep things in a positive light. I like to inspire and feel inspired. I try to be as helpful as I can, be as informative, cheer on my fellow women, and be that person I needed when I was just starting out. You have no idea how even a simple compliment can empower someone, so it’s something I try to do more of.

I think as women, especially mothers, we are so incredibly hard on ourselves. Sometimes we put ourselves in these little boxes and when things don’t fit into place perfectly we think something’s wrong with us. No girlfriend, it’s the box. Get out of it. If you REALLY want to feel empowered you need to be your authentic self and surround yourself with people who appreciate your worth.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Amber: Be as relatable and stay true to yourself, and the right audience will find you. Of course, sharing quality content is a given, but staying connected and being informative is just as important. Above all, support others, whether they have 100 or 1M followers.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Amber: Honestly, I’ve been focusing 100% of my time on my family and a lot of self-care. These trying times have made me realize how things can change so quickly and really show you the real value of everything around you. Since work for me has slowed down, I feel more present in the moment. I haven’t been as active on posting content like I used to, but I’m always consistent in staying connected, I try to share positive thoughts because I know how important it is to help spread light and love during this time.

Power of Influence 2020: Lifestyle Awardee

Shelby is a content creator sharing her daily style and life with her fiancé, Kyle. You can always count on her to find the best deals and the hottest Amazon finds. Her Trader Joe’s hauls and weekly beauty faves that she shares on her Instagram story are our personal favorites. Shelby is also an Account Executive for a Las Vegas-based PR & Marketing company and has worked the field for over three years, igniting her passion for starting her lifestyle blog: ShelbyTristin.com

Here’s a recap of what she had to say about the power of her influence:

The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Shelby: I show women that it is okay to make mistakes and have impurities. I take pride in providing honest product reviews and reminding women that I am human, too. Being relatable is key to gaining trust from your audience. For me, it’s sharing my acne journey and posting my struggles throughout it. It’s also sharing different sizes of clothing because I am not a size small.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Shelby: I get asked this question a lot. If I could summarize my advice in a few words, it would be to be consistent. The phrase “out of sight, out of mind” is completely true on social media. Even on your bad days, you have to hype other women up and make sure your presence is known. Engage with women you can relate to. Take time to read their captions and respond thoughtfully. Once you find a routine (for me, it’s commenting on 50 posts a day) stick to it.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Shelby: One of the things I’m focusing on is being consistent and not changing my social media routine even though it seems like the world is “on pause” right now. I’m letting my audience know my thoughts on the current situation, what I’m up to and how I can relate to all of them. On the back end, it’s been tough securing collaborations because many brands have their budgets on hold, but keeping my usual posting schedule will pay off after all this settles. I’m thankful to have a little extra time each day to dig deeper into my personal brand and work on a few things I’ve been putting on the back burner like my blog layout and updating my media sheets.
