Power of Influence 2020: Small Business Awardee

Meet Lin Smith Jerome,  @lin_smith_jerome, awardee of our Power of Influence 2020 list in the Small Business category

A lawyer, co-founder of Cafe Lola, Saint Honore, and The Refined Agency. Lin wastes no time in making her mark in business. Make sure to follow her on Instagram for all the business motivation you need and some cuteness overload of her adorable daughter!

The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Lin: I want women to know that they are capable of doing anything. Sometimes things may not go as planned, I think right now is a perfect example of that, but everything will always work itself out in the end. There are different paths to success and there will always be hurdles and roadblocks but if you stay focused you will reach your end goal.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Lin: I think being honest and keeping it real is so important. People want to know that, yes, you go out without makeup, and yes you wear pajamas around the house all day, especially right now, and maybe your closet is a mess and that’s ok. It makes you a real person and people appreciate that. I also think it is extremely important to respond to comments and DM’s. If you DM me or leave a comment on a photo, I will respond back. It’s just common courtesy.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Lin: We were nonstop for years before our current state of affairs. When we were told to stay home, I took that very seriously as we have my mother and our 1-year-old under our roof and their health and safety are our top priority. I’ve been working from home and although it has been tough to juggle a toddler and business, I’m making it work. We are focusing on different ways of connecting with our clientele and thinking outside of the box. We are also looking for different outlets and sources for grants and funding opportunities. And personally, I am focusing on my family and the quality time that this has allowed us to spend together.

Power of Influence 2020: Small Business Awardees

Get to know Diesha and Marisela, the two best friends behind The DM Show Podcast – which is inspired by girlfriends, encouraged by conversations, and strengthened by experiences. These gals release a new show each week and have successfully expanded their small business and digital community into IRL events with hundreds of attendees. We can’t wait until we can share a glass of wine of four with these two in person, until then, we’re lucky to enjoy their dynamic relationship and timely topics each week on the podcast.

Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Diesha & Marisela: We offer a judgment-free zone where women can listen to real conversations about topics that matter to all of us. Each week we invite women to join us for a glass of wine and talk about things like motherhood, sex, relationships, women empowerment, and career.

We also want women to step away from their busy lives and have some fun so we gossip about pop culture, trending topics, and unique feminism articles we read in the news.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Diesha & Marisela: Our podcast is focused on women supporting women. We open up ourselves through taboo conversations that all women can relate to. Those real connection type talks that give women the comfort of knowing they are not alone. Mostly we focus on finding humor in all situations because laughter is our medicine for getting through life.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Diesha & Marisela:

1. We are continuing to encourage women to have authentic conversations. To focus on gratitude and finding joy in one thing every day. Reminding our friends to check in on their girlfriends often. We are all in this together.

2. Bringing new and fun ways to connect with women and women-owned businesses and brands. We held our first zoom virtual happy hour where we hosted 50 ladies with wine and cheese on a Friday night in mid-April.

3. Also, inviting new and exciting hosts on the podcast to help cover important topics to women. Our mission is to connect women through open and unapologetic conversations that women experience; motherhood, relationships, health and fitness, and some vanity topics like, skin and injectables and of course, sharing embarrassing confessions.

Power of Influence 2020: Small Business Awardee

Alexandra is the co-founder of a small-business turned hospitality empire with her agency, The Refined Hospitality Group, and delicious cafe and bakery concepts, Cafe Lola and Saint Honoré. With a successful Cafe Lola popup turned permanent partnership with Macy’s, we can expect more inspiration and innovation from Alexandra in the months to come!

Read on as Alexandra shares the power of her influence:

The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Alexandra: I think one of the most powerful things is seeing someone similar to you fulfilling their dream. I’ve always looked up to women who share how they found success or what worked for them instead of keeping these things to themselves. To me, by just sharing my journey, my successes and failures, and any tips I have, I hope to empower other women. My partner and I also created Women Who Slay, a conference to help empower women through hearing other’s stories of how they turned their dream into a reality. We wanted to create more meaningful experiences in Las Vegas for women to connect with like-minded women and truly learn and grow closer to their own dreams.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Alexandra: Connecting with your audience is so undervalued these days. Going through your DMs, responding to comments, or even just chatting with someone who you run into helps! Also, as I said above, just sharing your life with others helps and being authentic. There are days where I am so exhausted from running my businesses and trying to be a good mom, wife, and friend and just sharing that people can really resonate with.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Alexandra:

1. Creating new things! Over the past few weeks, I have created things that I always wanted to try that I couldn’t because we didn’t have the time before. For example, our DoughSaints at Saint Honoré!! These croissant doughnuts have been on my to-do list for a year, and we FINALLY perfected them! I am going into the bakery every day and trying to make our businesses better than they were before, so when we finally can open again, we will hopefully be better than ever!

2. Spending time with Family! When we were open full time, I would be at the restaurants forever! Now, we open later in the day and close earlier and I am actually loving the extra time I get to spend with my family.

3. Think Positive. Even though we are in this crazy uncertain situation, we are blessed that our restaurants are still open and people still want to order from us, so it is important to think positive! I have been focusing on upcoming holidays, foodie holidays, and thinking of all the things we can do to provide a little joy to families during this time! Seeing all the unboxing posts of our LOLAXO pink boxes, our doughnut boxes and our food/drinks from Cafe Lola truly makes me so happy and gives me a purpose as to why I go to work every day! I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for Cinco De Mayo and Mother’s Day!

Power of Influence 2020: Small Business Awardee

Brianne rules in both the small business and beauty category and just recently added new mom to her growing list of accomplishments and demands on her time! Brianne lash line, b.lashed, which she launched in mid 2018, is a game-changer in the false lashes world with 30+ uses per pair. We can’t wait to see how her business, audience, and community grows in the years ahead!

Brianne tells us more about the power of her influence below:

The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Brianne: I am a new mom, new wife, and a new business owner. You could say I “juggle it all”. I don’t think there is a balance I’ll ever reach where I feel like I have everything figured out. All I know is that I am beyond passionate about b.lashed and the brand we are growing. I am a total girl’s girl and understand the needs of women. I know we are all trying our best and that is ENOUGH. I hope my story influences women to fiercely love the journey of life they are on. Embrace the bad as much as you embrace the good. I want to influence others to be the best version of themselves!

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Brianne: Posting, emailing, showing, and acting out what feels right. I can FEEL what people post. If I post filler content, it will not get a great response. If I pour a lot of love into a post, an email (anything marketing), I INSTANTLY see results. The interesting thing about my business is that I am a product-based business but I am also the face of my brand, which can be tricky. I really focus on the “like, know, and trust factor”. I have RAVING fans on shopblashed.com.

I mean, there are women who literally almost buy daily from us! Which is crazy. If I focus and create really strong relationships with customers, they are more likely to tell their friends about b.lashed. We really have grown from word of mouth and from building friendships. Be a good friend, that’s the secret.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Brianne:

1. Hiring- We are looking to hire our first b.lashes employee, (have anyone in mind???).

2. Systems- Emails, inventory flow, efficient programs, all of this is important for a product-based business. We use our social media as a tool to find our brand, connect with our message, and inspire creativity and positivity. The fun thing about lashes is that they are a learning-based product. S0 we are constantly working on new videos and new systems to better educate our followers and potential customers. Our systems are all focused around one word. Service. If we constantly serve others, we will succeed.

3. Time management- Now is a great time to get organized, revamp our website, clean my office, prepare for a new hire, update systems, and prepare inventory for the rest of this year!

2. Creating new innovative content that we haven’t had time to focus on before. And

Power of Influence 2020: Small Business Awardee

Meet Megan Fazio, @meganfazio, awardee of our Power of Influence 2020 list in the Small Business category

Megan is one of the most trusted publicists in Las Vegas and the founder and CEO of Neon PR. An award winning PR agency representing clients in the hospitality, entertainment, and non-profit sector.  Her work has landed her in the top 40 under 40 by Vegas Inc which is obviously no surprise to us. When she’s not busy attaining high visibility for her clients, you can find her sharing fashion, beauty, and lifestyle inspiration on her blog: Blogzio.

Here’s a recap of what she shared with us:

The Influencer Lab: How do you use your Influence to empower other women?

Megan: As an entrepreneur, my proudest accomplishment is having built a company that has gained acclaim through the stellar work my team does for our clients and the relationships we build in this amazing city. Becoming a bit of an “influencer” in my own right, I’ve been fortunate to grow a fun personal brand in tandem with my business brand – which has positively affected my business world. I think it’s empowering to build a company, but it’s also empowering to let people into your personal life – gone are the days of not being able to mix biz with pleasure (especially in Vegas!) and I strive to show people that as a woman and as a business owner, I believe having a life is also what breathes life into my company and my work.

The Influencer Lab: What is your secret to growing a highly engaged audience?

Megan: Responding to everyone in comments and in DMs! The point of social media is being social after all, right? And it’s definitely a two-way street. Showing love on other people’s posts you enjoy shows the love right back and keeps us all engaged.

The Influencer Lab: What three things are you focusing on to steady yourself and your business during these uncertain times of a COVID-19?

Megan: Despite the interruption in contracts for our PR clients during this unprecedented pandemic, I’m still focused on providing services pro bono for our clients who have stuck by us for years. It is my goal to make sure our clients maintain whatever business or notoriety they can during this time, and our local media has been awesome at helping spotlight to-go services for restaurants and positivity in the community. Standing by our clients has given me so much focus and has allowed me to feel like we’re all in this together.

I still do what I can to maintain a ‘normal’ routine and find it imperative to continue to get up early and listen to podcasts like I normally do, make myself a healthy breakfast, and do my Five Minute Journal. I’m also taking time to play subject for a few of my photographer friends who don’t want to shut off their creativity which in turn has given me some awesome content!
